Abstract

We report a rare case of simultaneous sciatic and ulnar neuropathies following alcohol overdose with prolonged immobilization. He presented with swelling and pain in the right gluteal and forearm regions. Excessive elevation of serum creatine phosphokinase level indicated the presence of rhabdomyolysis. Moreover, pelvic CT showed diffuse thickening and inflammatory change of the right gluteus muscles. We suggest that these neuropathies resulted from compression and ischemia of the nerves by the swollen muscles identified through the CT scan.
